This is the full 12-7-09 episode of the Labor Express Radio program.
Sunday Nov. 29th was election day in Honduras. Those who continue to oppose the military coup in power in Honduras since last July consider the elections fraudulent as the elections were organized by the coup regime, without restoration of the democratically elected president. They argue that the elections were held with in an atmosphere of sever repression and good number of the opposition candidates had withdrawn from the election. The movement against the coup, of which the Honduran labor movement and peasant organizations are the backbone, called for a boycott of the elections. Will more about the elections from members of La Voz de los Abajo on todayâs program.
Also, this weekend U.S. Labor Against the War, the organization responsible for coordinating the anti-war work of the U.S. labor movement held its third quadrennial convention here in Chicago. They held a public event at which labor leaders from Venezuela, Iran, Pakistan and Iraq all spoke. Will here a number of those speeches on todayâs program as well.
