Since oil was discovered in Nigeria, life expectancy has dropped by 20 years, mangroves have disappeared and fish have been poisoned. Meanwhile the wealth generated by the resource leaves the country. Sandy Cioffe went to Nigeria to film the opening of a library provided by philanthropic Americans. She returned to tell the story of the fight by the people of the Niger Delta against the oil companies. The result is the movie Sweet Crude.
