This is a 64 kbs version of a weekly program which began on a now defunct low power FM station (KSOW) in Cottage Grove, OR Since there seems to be some interest in the show I have decided to continue . In this connection I will post a new show by Tuesday or Wednesday of each week. I will post a new show by Tuesday or Wednesday of each week. There is also a 128 bit version.
In the main, each episode consists of four approximately 30-minute long programs (not always, as sometimes I use a longer form show, so it may be 3 or fewer) and some filler to bring them in at 120 minutes. .
Broadcast Advisories
Use these programs in any way that suits you, commercial, non-commercial (well,don't sell it). Use them on your low power FM station or your AM station. Stream it on your internet station or stream. Whatever. Edit them if you want to, however you want to! I'm easy. In a few cases commercials have been left in but in those cases there is disclaimer stating that they are there for "historical perspective" only. I have edited out any underwriter spots that once existed. There is no comment about run times ( i.e. "It's Sunday night at 10 pm and this is Night Transmissions.") Also I have edited out any mention of the town I live in. In other words I have endeavored to make make these programs as "Evergreen" and global as possible. I would even consider making (at some point) shows that are tailored to some degree for specific locations. In most cases the mp3 file runs a little longer than 120 minutes. However, in all cases the main show comes in at under 120 minutes; anything in excess of 120 minutes is just music that can safely be faded out.
As of show 21 there are 30 second musical interludes at 30,60 and 90 minutes. with the last 5 to 10 minutes or so of the show uninterrupted music that can be faded out on without too much ado, Exact times will be in the mp3 comment tag

Segment One:
There were a number of "True-Life Crime" anthologies in old-time radio , "Crime Classics", a CBS show that began it's run on September the 30th of 1953 was one of the best. The show introduced itself as a compendium of historically accurate misbehavior taken from actual historical documents (newspapers and court records that kind of thing).Typical of this series is this week's show from December 3 of 1953, "The Crime Of Bathsheba Spooner". In revolutionary America on July 2 of 1778, Bathsheba Spooner, wife and mother of three, was hung along with three accomplices for the murder of, on March 1 of 1778, her husband Joshua Spooner . It was this sorry state of afairs that brought her into historical prominence as the first woman to be executed in the United States.
Segment Two: From the Canadian show Nightfall we have an episode from July 18, 1980, " Welcome to Homerville". In this story, R. C. O' Conner, a truck driver is carrying a load of newsprint to a town in the northeastern part of the United States, Homerville. Less than a day from his destination, a seductive female voice on R. C's radio tells him that she is "waiting" for him in Homerville. Considering this a strange turn of events R. C. decides to ask a few questions of some other truckers. The other truckers warn him not to go there and give vague warnings of some "dire danger". But the voice keeps luring him forward and R. C. finds himself being reeled in. Who is this mysterious voice that draws him closer and closer to Homerville? To round off the hour we have one of Ellery Queen's Minute Mysteries. A series of one minute stories syndicated as filler in the 1970s. This time it's, "Deep Sea Murder".
Segment Three: The radio series Escape adapted two stories from Ray Bradbury's 1950 classic collection of stories about the colonization of Mars,The Martian Chronicles. The first was the story "The Earthmen" with a air date of July 25th of 1951. The story first saw publication in Thrilling Wonder Stories for August of 1948. It appears in The Martian Chronicles under that same name. This adaptation appears in show 43 of Night Transmissions. The second adaptation the story, "Mars is Heaven!" was broadcast on June 2nd of 1950 and was originally published in Planet Stories in the Fall issue of 1948. In the book The Martian Chronicles it appears under the chapter title "The Third Expedition." "Mars Is Heaven" was chosen as one of the best science fiction short stories of all time by The Science Fiction Writers of America in 1970. it should be noted that Escape modified both stories for radio, but it can be said that overall, their adaptations are good. Then we have a Strange Adventure in a " Ghost Town" Strange Adventures was syndicated by Teleways Radio Productions in 1945. Each show ran about three and a half minutes plus commercials which were added locally. It is unrelated to the DC Comic book that began in 1950.
Segment Four: This week from the Librivox Project we have a 20 minute story from the pen of Andre Norton read by Gregg Margarite, All Cats Are Gray.
