This Wednesday, March 3rd, Chicago Jobs With Justice will be holding a public event their calling Durbinâs Diner at noon in Federal Plaza. The action, modeled on a Great Depression era soup line, will be used to highlight the continuing economic crisis and high unemployment and its impact on working people. Will hear from Susan Hurley, Executive Director of Chicago Jobs with Justice in a little bit about this action which is a part of a new campaign they are launching called⦠âThe Emergency Campaign for Jobsâ.
Later in the program will hear from Ireri Unzueta-Carrasco and David Morales of the Immigrant Youth Justice League about their new formed organization which is encouraging both college and high school students to take leadership in the struggle for Immigrant rights in Chicago. The Immigrant Youth Justice League or IYJL for short, is organizing this years immigrants rights march in Chicago on March 10th, the 4th anniversary of the March for immigrants rights held in 2006, one of the largest marches in the cityâs history. Organizers hope to draw attention to Obamaâs failure to move on pro-immigrant immigration reform.
