Suffolk County is providing a wonderful example of how local government and environmental groups can work together to educate the public concerning cancer prevention that involves reducing exposure to pollutant carcinogens. The residents of Suffolk County have created a very valuable collaborative effort for bringing about the changes that will lead to lower cancer incidence on Long Island. Honor to the people who encountered high cancer rates in their communities and joined together to change this. They are learning about what is causing the high cancer rates and they are educating county residents concerning reducing exposure to cancer causing chemicals and agents in the environment.
