If you're a regular listener of The Monday Morning Breakfast Blend, first of all,God Bless You! Secondly, you how I loves me my power pop! There is quite possibly NOTHING that makes me giddier (a shameful sight,I'll concede!). So I was thrilled when I got the opportunity to interview power pop master craftsman John Davis, formerly of D.C. stalwarts,Q and not U,and more recently Georgie James, who, again,if you're a regular listener of The Monday Morning Breakfast Blend, know had my #1 album of 2007 AND my #1 song of 2007 as well with "Cheap Champagne". He was in town a few weeks back playing a show at Gallery 5 with his current band,Title Tracks (great show, btw) and I was lucky enough to steal a half hour of his time and have him come up to the station and talk to me (and he was gracious enough to oblige) about growing up in D.C.,his past projects, his current band, and some of his favorite artists, among other things. I'll be playing excerpts from that interview throughout the show this morning along with selections from Q and not U,Georgie James, and of course, the new Title Tracks cd. I'll also throw in selections from Mr.Davis' own Best of '09 playlist peppered with some power pop bonn motts of my own. Oh yes,Power Pop ABOUNDS this morning!
