Yes,yes,I know. I know. I KNOW! It was too easy. A little childish,perhaps? Maybe even a tad offensive? You expect more from me,don't you? Well,I appreciate that. But considering last weeks show was called "Pop You!" (http://wrir.org/x/modules/news/article.php?storyid=12528),I really had no choice now,did I? This,of course,also means that I'm forced to do a "Punk You!" show next week. (I think we're safe after that,as "Jazz You!" or "Polka You!" don't exactly have the same punch as a Pop,Folk,or Punk You! have)
ANYWAY...
I had the pleasure of seeing two DYNAMITE folk acts last week as part of The Listening Room series,Hezekiah Jones,and Chris Kasper,both from the Philadelphia area (which apparently has quite the burgeoning folk scene). And keeping with the Philadelphia theme,my good friend Mike McMonagle, (who had one of my top songs of last year with "The Big Sea" (http://wrir.org/x/modules/news/article.php?storyid=11648) recently moved back to his home town of Lancaster,Pa. (about an hour from Philly) and just recently recorded a couple of new tracks.
So I'll be playing tracks from all three of these artists and use that as a springboard for the rest of the show.
