This is the full 3-29-10 episode of the Labor Express Radio program.
On this weekâs episode on Labor Express we take a look at the so called âhealth care reformâ signed into law last week. The legislation is a boon to the health insurance industry and bad medicine for most working class Americans. What we witnessed last week was not the first steps towards a universal system of health coverage in the United States but instead a health insurance industry bailout program to rival the bank bailout of 2008. We will analyze this new legislation and explain why it is not a step forward but rather the possible dooming of meaningful health care reform for perhaps the next decade or more. Will hear from Michael Lighty, Policy Director for National Nurses United, Dr. Patricia Downs Berger, Co-chair of MassCare, a single payer organization in Massachusetts, and Dr. Anne Sheetz of Physicians for a National Health Program and The Illinois Single Payer Coalition.
