LEDE:
IN A BRIEFING ON WEDNESDAY, RAY ODIERNO, COMMANDER OF U.S. FORCES IN IRAQ ANNOUNCED THAT 20,000 U.S. TROOPS WILL LEAVE IRAQ BY SEPTEMBER 1ST, WHICH WILL LEAVE ONLY 50,000 AND THAT THE U.S. WAS ON TARGET TO A COMPLETE WITHDRAWAL BY THE END OF 2011.

WHILE AFGHANISTAN HAS NOW REPLACED IRAQ AS THE DAILY AMERICAN WAR IN THE NEWS, THERE IS LITTLE EVIDENCE THAT THE U.S OCCUPATION OF IRAQ AND HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS IN TAXPAYERS FUNDS HAVE ACHIEVED THE ONCE TOUTED GOAL OF "NATION BUILDING". AFTER AN UNDECISIVE MARCH 7 ELECTION ,THE COUNTRY IS STILL TRYING TO FORM A GOVERNMENT AND SUICIDE BOMBINGS LAST SUNDAY KILLED 50 AND INJURED SCORES MORE.

THIS PAST THURSDAY, TWO AUSTRALIANS CAME TO REVOLUTION BOOKS IN MAHATTAN TO DISCUSS THEIR RECENT BOOK: "ERASING IRAQ: THE HUMAN COSTS OF CARNAGE". WBAI FRED NGUYEN WAS THERE AND HE FILED THIS REPORT.
