THE ANNOUNCEMENT THAT US TROOPS IN IRAQ WILL BE REDUCED TO 50,000 IN SEPTEMBER, IS LEAVING MANY ANTI WAR ACTIVISTS UNIMPRESSED, PARTICULARLY SINCE THERE ARE SIGNS THAT THE WAR IN AFGHANISTAN IS STILL ESCALATING.

THE WASHINGTON POST REPORTS TODAY THAT TALIBAN FIGHTERS ARE NOW RAPIDLY MOVING INTO PREVIOUSLY PEACEFUL AREAS IN NORTHERN AFGHANISTAN.
