Notes: This is a weekly program which began on a now defunct low power FM station (KSOW) in Cottage Grove, OR. Since there seems to be some interest in the show I have decided to continue it. In this connection I will post a new show by Tuesday or Wednesday of each week. There is also a 64 bit version.
In the main, each episode consists of four approximately 30-minute long programs (not always, as sometimes I use a longer form show, so it may be 3 or fewer) and some filler to bring them in at 120 minutes. .
Broadcast Advisories
Use these programs in any way that suits you, commercial, non-commercial (well,don't sell it). Use them on your low power FM station or your AM station. Stream it on your internet station or stream. Whatever. Edit them if you want to, however you want to! I'm easy. In a few cases commercials have been left in but in those cases there is disclaimer stating that they are there for "historical perspective" only. I have edited out any underwriter spots that once existed. There is no comment about run times ( i.e. "It's Sunday night at 10 pm and this is Night Transmissions.") Also I have edited out any mention of the town I live in. In other words I have endeavored to make make these programs as "Evergreen" and global as possible. I would even consider making (at some point) shows that are tailored to some degree for specific locations. In most cases the mp3 file runs a little longer than 120 minutes. However, in all cases the main show comes in at under 120 minutes; anything in excess of 120 minutes is just music that can safely be faded out.
As of show 21 there are 30 second musical interludes at 30,60 and 90 minutes. with the last 5 to 10 minutes or so of the show uninterrupted music that can be faded out on without too much ado, Exact times will be in the mp3 comment tag

This episode contains the following segments..
Segment One: Is from Crime Classics. A radio docudrama which aired on CBS from June 15, 1953, to June 30, 1954 and centered around the recounting of historical crimes .The producers carefully recreate the facts, characters, and try hard to get the feel of the period right. It may be honestly said that the show doesn't take much in the way of dramatic license. Although, in the interest of brevity there is a certain loss of depth to the treatment. On the other hand, the series has a deft, light narration that serves well to liven up the proceedings.
This episode, "The Shockingly Peaceful Passing Of Thomas Bartlet" aired on June the 22nd of 1953.The story begins in the last mortal moments on December 31st of 1885 of Thomas Bartlett's life. You would think that most people would consider this to be a somber occasion. The last thing you would expect would be for the occasion to be the cause of Mr. Bartlett's very young wife falling into a celebratory frame of mind. Or maybe you would when you remember that you are listening to Crime Classics, with its just ever so slightly askew view of murderand mayhem includeing this, the " Pimlico Mystery".

Segment Two:
The CBS Radio Mystery Theater stood foremost in the 1970s revival of Radio theater.
The producers and staff of the series took seriously, and delivered, on their goal of bringing mystery, suspense and drama back to the radio airwaves. E.G. Marshall hosted the series until Tammy Grimes took over on Feb 1, 1982 in what would be its final year.
This episode from October the 25th of 1982, Resident Killer is the very last episode of the series and one of it's occasional forays into science fiction. This time with a bit of a rye smile. In the story we find ourselves in a distant future where the ideal of the perfectibility of man is taken seriously. Where peace and justice have prevailed. The question is... don't we still need a few good men? A few who have not forgotten the old ways?
Not even one?
Well, there is space . Who knows what dangers lurk there. George Bells knows. It's his job to know. It's his job to seek out and destroy alien scout ships before they can reach their home base and report that we humans are here... and we smell delicious.
It's a nasty job, but he gets used to it.
Segment Three:
Is a 1904 short story by Guy Boothby, The Strange Gold Field read by Nan Frezon
The story takes place in one of the dreariest parts of Australia as two miners come upon a rich find. But they are not the first. There are still other claimants and their silent partners.
Guy Boothby was a successful author who was born in Adelaide, Australia on October 13th of 1867 and died on February 26th of 1905. Guy first showed great promise when at 27 he wrote the libretto for the comic opera, Sylvia.
In 1894 he published his first book, On the Wallaby or Through the East and Across Australia. The book was an account of a trek he and his brother had undertaken a little while before. That same year his first novel, In Strange Company was published in London. The success of his novel prompted Guy to move to London where he was still living 11 years later when he died from pneumonia at the age of 37 . At his death he had published 50 novels and short stories. By this time he had become popular for his stories of horror and science fiction. His first novel "A Bid For Fortune Dr. Nikola's Vendetta" was adapted to the cinema in 1914.
Segment Four: Is a story from The Strange Doctor Weird, "White Pearls of Terror" from December the 19th of 1944.
Staring The Mysterious Traveler's Maurice Tarplin as the host and title character The Strange Dr. Weird who lives in a "house on the other side of the Cemetery" and told tales that were tinged with the supernatural and littered with gore. These stories were written by Robert Arthur and David Kogan both of who also worked on The Mysterious Traveler. For the most part these shows are reworkings of scripts for that show.
This series ran from November 7th of 1944 to May 22th of 1945 and consisted of 29 15 minute shows.
Adam Hats paid the bills
Stolen pearls, murder, an old witch doctor and an inconveniently timed storm figure in this play of two stranded men and their hope for rescue.
