Dr. Clever is a recent recipient of the Stanford Medal and founder of the not-for-profit RENEW, which helps devoted, but over-busy people regain their effectiveness and joy in life. This timely book is particularly relevant to anyone who is struggling between multiple jobs, a family, or is simply over-scheduled. Dr. Clever is a dynamic, sympathetic, and even humorous speaker who always gets the audience involved and talking. Dr. Clever offers a unique perspective; she offers a holistic approach to help readers gain awareness of physical and emotional signs of fatigue. The book is filled with personal stories, self-assessments, doctors' check up advice, and tips.

Dr. Clever is also the founding Chair of the Department of Occupational Health at California Pacific Medical Center and former Editor of the Western Journal of Medicine.
In 1970, Dr. Clever became the first Medical Director of the teaching clinic at St. Mary's Hospital in San Francisco where she started patient education and nurse practitioner training and research programs. In 1977, she started the Department of Occupational Health at the then-Pacific Medical Center and began her activities in the American College of Physicians in which she served as Governor, Chair of the Board of Governors, and Regent. She is a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences and the Western Association of Physicians, and is Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCSF. She has chaired the Boards of KQED and University High School and has served on numerous other boards including the Stanford University Board of Trustees. She is president of the Western Association of Physicians and serves on the Boards of the Buck Institute for Research in Aging and the Northern California Presbyterian Homes and Services. She has written numerous papers, chapters, articles, and editorials.



Dr. Clever is the founder and president of RENEW, a non-profit organization which helps people maintain and regain effectiveness, purpose, and enthusiasm.
