Richard Berry, the original writer and performer of one of rocks most covered songs (Louie, Louie) is the subject of our show this hour. Richard sold the rights to the song in order to have a proper wedding to high school sweetheart Dorothy Adams (a future Raelette). The song spread in popularity in California and the Pacific Northwest, eventually going country-wide when The Kingsmen released their version.
This hour we look at the life and music of Richard Berry. In addition to "Louie Louie," he left behind an incredible collection of soul, rock n roll, and r&b songs. He also worked with artists such as Etta James, The Flairs and The Robins.
