Yesterday, June 21st was the longest day of the year. It is also known as the summer solstice, which literarily means when the sun –sol stands still. This day is still celebrated around the world - most notably in England at Stonehenge, where thousands gather to welcome the sunrise on the Summer Solstice.
Scientifically speaking The summer solstice occurs exactly when the Earth's axial tilt is most inclined towards the sun. Famously, Pagans called the Midsummer moon, or the sol stice moon the "Honey Moon" for the mead made from fermented honey that was part of wedding ceremonies performed at the Summer Solstice.
