He and Dr. Caldicott discuss the tremendous hazards of spent nuclear fuel rods at nuclear power plants, the potential for a catastrophic fire in a fuel pool, and the unprecedented Fukushima disaster. Alvarez refers to the 2011 IPS report Spent Nuclear Fuel Pools in the U.S.: Reducing the Deadly Risks of Storage.
