Smith discusses his new book, “Divert!: NUMEC, Zalman Shapiro and the Diversion of US Weapons Grade Uranium into the Israeli Nuclear Program, out in 1/12 by IRmep. Smith traces history of covert operations by Israel and US supporters to get arms to Haganah and led to diversion of highly enriched uranium from NUMEC, a US funded corporation in Apollo, PA to serve Israel’s nuclear weapons program. Also how FBI kept tabs on Shapiro, NUMEC’s owner, on US Jewish operatives working for Israel and on Israel spies and scientists who visited NUMEC, now subject of $170 million environmental cleanup.
