Michael Parenti's new analysis of democracy, occupation, and the corporate state.
Michael Parenti is a prolific and award-winning author, widely regarded as one of the nation;s leading lights of progressive political analysis. Over the weekend, Parenti kicked off the new year with a new assessment of the political and economic contradictions of corporate rule by the One Percent, the privatization of public services, and the subversion of popular interests by the corporate-electoral complex.
Parenti's speech, titled "Democracy and the Pathology of Wealth," was delivered to the La Pena Center in Berkley, California (LaPena.org), where he also considered the current repression and future viability of the new Occupy Movement.
