Most people think that the struggle between Israel and the Palestinians began in 1967 with the occupation of Gaza, the West Bank and Jerusalem. Ali Abunimah says that leaves out the 1.4 million Palestinians who are citizens of Israel proper. He says they face discrimination on par with that experienced by African-Americans prior to the civil rights movement. Ali Abunimah is author of One Country: A Bold Proposal to End the Israeli-Palestinian Impasse.
