Phil decides to give a more serious reading to the little-known writings by William Lyon Mackenzie about the rights and freedoms of black immigrants to Canada. The works of Mackenzie reveal that two black Canadians died preventing an American slave from deportation back to the South. Where is their monument?

Turning to the Middle East, Phil interviews Zafar Bangash, who discusses the lack of serious debate about war with Iran at the NDP leadership conference. In the case of Syria, Zafar argues that Western support for the alleged pro-democracy movement in Syria is a distraction from the open goal to neutralize Syria in preparation for an attack on Iran.
