This week on the Mendocino Country Independent News Hour, host and publisher Chirstina Aanestad speaks with Chief Caleen Sisk Franco of the Winnemen Wintu tribe, sheâs also the tribes spritiual leader, from the Redding Area, they traveled to Vallejo today to request the regional forest service shut down part of the Mcloud river so they can hold their annual puberty ceremony, thatâs a womanâs coming of age ceremony, in peace. The tribe has experienced disruptions from the public in the past, and are asking the federal Forest Service to close off public access to the region they hold ceremony for. Weâll also hear from a spokesperson for the federal forest service-John Heil the Pacific Southwest Region Press Officer for US Forest Service and 2nd District Supervisor John Mccowen speaks with us about medical marijuana, and his vote to approve the EIR for the proposed Harris Rock Quarry.  Then weâll be joined by 2nd district uspervisor hjohn mccowen. He was recently quoted in a letter to Obama from pot advocates, asking for the president to end the war on medical marijuana. Â
