After many months of student protests against a 75% hike in tuition, older Quebecois joined students in the streets. When the province's National Assembly passed the emergency Law 78 restricting demonstrations, the student resistance, CLASSE, declared it would disobey. Next day, hundreds of thousands filled the streets.
