Linda McQuaig is a political journalist and author specializing in the threats to the integrity of Canada's social programs and principles of equality as well as the increasing power of the country's elite business establishment. She is the author of eleven books including Shooting the Hippo (1995), It's the Crude, Dude: War, Big Oil and the Fight for the Planet (2004) and The Trouble with Billionaires (2010). She spoke at the Social Planning Council's Annual General Meeting on June 5, 2012 and CKUW News Director Michael Welch managed to speak with the award-winning Toronto Star columnist while she was in Winnipeg.
