An educational forum sponsored by United for Justice with Peace Thursday, August 2, 2012 in Cambridge, MA. Three speakers: Elaine Hagopian, professor of history emerita, Simmons College Judy Bello, Fellowship of Reconciliation, anti-Drone activist Dr. Najib Saliba, professor of Middle Eastern history at Worcester State University, spent several weeks in Lebanon this summer.
The evening was hot, the venue not air-conditioned. The background noise on the recordings comes from several circulating fans.
UJP organized the event; TJRs Stan Robinson recorded it.
UJP opposes any US/NATO intervention and effort to use the opportunity to promote US interests at the expense of the Syrian people.
We at Truth and Justice Radio are skeptical of the U.S. official Syria story currently being parroted by mainstream media. We believe that story is fraudulent, just like its counterparts for Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.
We are especially startled and troubled by the storyâs acceptance in the main by Democracy Now and by some of the so-called progressive community. We can only imagine the delight the manipulators of this awful coup must be sharing.
We believe extra effort is called for now to expose and counter the thinly-disguised imperialist motives of our U.S. âleadership,â and to stop them. This forum represents an earnest attempt by UJP to promote understanding, discussion, and civic actions based on the real story.
There was a discussion period, but unfortunately it was dominated by the fulminations of a claque of loud pro-war propagandists.
