The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit Show - A musical mid-life crisis -- a late-night search for meaning and happiness airs on WRIR LP Monday nights from 11 PM to 1 AM. Stream the show @ www.wrir.org
Hey Listeners,
It's fund drive time and I couldn't think of a better way to commemorate it than by clebrating the DJ. WRIR's team of DJs is all volunteer. They choose the music, research their shows, come in every week - rain or shine (or moonlight) and bring the WRIR listener great tunes every week. Most do it because of their passion for radio and the music they play. If you appreciate what they do and love the musci they bring you from 5 PM to 8 AM all week and all weekend long - please make a donation.
If you want to call me in the studio and donate while I'm on the air, you'll not only get your WRIR premium, but a MIGFS t-shirt too. So call me up 2 804.640.9737 and make a donation or just tell me why you love WRIR.
Sets 1 and 2 will feature the early years of rock 'n' roll featured on the "race" stations like WDIA out of Memphis with its DJs - Hot Rod Hulberty, Theo Wade, and Ford Nelson and also WLAC out of Nashville which featured DJs such as Gene Nobles, John R, Hoss and others. It will also feature songs played on WHBQ's Red Hot and Blue with Dewey Phillips and by Alan Freed out of Akron and later Cleveland and New York.
The third set will feature some tracks about the stations and DJs mentioned above and set four will feature the music of some famous DJs including a couple from WRIR!
We'll close the show with the DJ era I grew up listening to.
It's great being a volunteer DJ at WRIR. I hope you enjoy listening to my show as much as I enjoy bringing it to you every Monday night. Show your support for what all the DJs do up her - make a donation!
