The use of irregular armed organizations to suppress democratic struggles has a long history in Haiti. That history extends to the current government of President Martelly. Author Jeb Sprague focuses on the overthrow of the Aristide government in 2004. He interviewed paramilitary members and documents their involvement in the coup. The book was given an award by Project Censored.
