Black artists invented rock and roll(Louis Jordan, Fats Domino, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, etc.)
The Beatles were fans....and covered many of these pioneer artists in their early recordings.
It's only fitting that in the late 60's/early 70's, the black artists returned the favor by pumping out many soulful, funky and rockin' covers of Beatles songs.
