TaâKaiya Blaney is from the Sliammon Nation and lives in North Vancouver. She was 10 when she wrote the song Shallow Waters to draw attention to the dangers of an oil spill along the B.C. coast. Now 12 years old, TaâKaiya Blaney speaks about her concerns for the environment. She also performs her song Shallow Waters. TaâKaiya Blaney was recorded at the event She Speaks: Indigenous women oppose the tar sands held in Vancouver on September 19.
