Earlier this month, the Canadian government cancelled the contracts of part-time chaplains in federal prisons. The government says that the changes, which take effect on March 31st, 2012, will support freedom of religion for inmates while protecting federal tax dollars. Faith and justice groups argue that the cuts are discriminatory and will limit access to non-Christian chaplains.
