This episode has hot and cold Santas out the ass--while there ain't no sanity clause, there are way too many Kris Kringles running around! This is a song-heavy production with music by the Vandals, who HAD to get a frickin' GUN for Christmas (Thanks, MOM!); Archers of Loaf with "Assassination on Christmas Eve"; Bobby Lloyd and the Skeletons, who weave an inspired "Little Drummer Boy" into "You Really Got Me"!; an assortment of raunchy R&B Santa-themed songs; Ed Sanders' wonderful "ABM Machine" Melvin Laird song; Cheech and Chong provide commentary and addled history to the Santa mythos; and it's all capped off with "Talk to Me Santa"--a rocking-ass live song by El Vez, which dives into a Velvet trajectory that takes it straight Underground, if you catch my drift! Using my signature gutpunch Recombinant Comedy⢠technique, I interweave diverse soundbites together into a sprawling narrative that reflects the hideous holiday world we find ourselves trapped in--a twisted vision of candy canes and body bags, of silver bells and hollowpoint bullets. And in the midst of it, some poor schmoe is gonna get set up to impersonate the *capo tutti capi* of the North Pole Claus empire. It's a good gig, if you can survive it.
Thanks to Agent Lloyd, whose video xmas card to me begins our show tonight and provides a personalized touch--and coming from Santa, youd better believe its a BAD touch.
