Episode 43 of the Smells Like Human Spirit Podcast focuses heavily on the concept of 'The Singularity', a point in space-time where the rules of ordinary physics no longer apply, and rapid change occurs to the point where future technological advancements are impossible to predict. Prominent spokespeople for the Singularity movement suggest that this metamorphosis will occur as early as 2045, with an intelligence explosion so great that human conciousness itself could be 'scanned' to create true artificial intelligence, and perhaps even immortality.
