A host of media outlets have revealed involvement by the Central Intelligence Agency in training and intelligence in support of Syrian opposition groups. On March 22, the Wall Street Journal first reported CIA operatives were providing weapons training, urban combat guidance and more to those waging an armed conflict aimed at taking down President Bashar al-Assad. Brian Becker of the ANSWER Coalition joins Liberation Radio to explore that news, and the Arab League's recent recognition of Syrian opposition.
Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe recently announced cutbacks to the U.S. Postal Service, including the elimination of Saturday mail delivery. Congress has previously rejected such cuts, and postal workers have raised concerns such reductions could harshly affect many communities. On March 24, supporters across the United States rallied to save the Postal Service. Joining the program via telephone is Ken Lerch, President of the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 3825.
On March 26, the U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments in a case that could determine marriage equality for millions of gays and lesbians across the country. Joining us to talk about the marriage equality issue is Suyapa Portillo, Professor at Pitzer College. She explores the matter as it relates to immigrants and communities of color, and organizing to this point.
