President Obama told the media May 2 that he backs the Food and Drug Administrations announcement to allow the sale of the emergency contraception pill, also known as Plan B, to women 15 years and older. Iran will be holding its presidential election this coming June. The politicians in Washington would like to see the outgoing government of President Ahmadinejad, which has insisted on Iranian sovereignty and its right to pursue a nuclear program, replaced with one that will bend to U.S. interests. Iran is under crushing sanctions aimed at pressuring the independent country into submitting to Washington's dictates. Earlier in the month, Iran offered concessions during negotiations, but they were rebuffed by the U.S. and others.
