First, we hear Sir Gerald Kaufman speaking on the floor of the British House of Commons in April of 2002. Much more recently (2-5-2014), Sir Gerald again rose there, to speak on the humanitarian situation in Gaza. We hear excerpts from that speech.
The feature presentation today is an interview with Eva Bartlett who has been called Canada’s Rachel Corrie. (Unlike Corrie, Bartlett is very much alive today.) She is an activist and journalist who has been living in Gaza since 2008 (about 5 years). We present a very special interview of her on 12-7-2013 by Mike McCormick of "Mind Over Matters" radio.
As a volunteer with the International Solidarity Movement, Eva has been accompanying Gaza farmers and fisherman under threat of harassment and sniper fire from Israeli forces. She rode with medics in their ambulances during Operation Cast Lead, Israel’s devastating assault on Gaza in 2008-2009 that killed more than 1,400 Gazans. She has documented the 2012 Israeli attacks from a hospital in the central Gaza strip.
At the time of this posting, Eva is scheduled to appear in person twice in the Boston area, once on 2-28-2014 at Community Church of Boston (565 Boylston St - Copley T stop) and again 3-2-2014 at First Church in Cambridge (11 Garden St - Harvard T stop).
Special thanks to Mike McCormick of Mind Over Matters.
