An interesting film about "planned obsolescence." That is, products designed to fail early so another must be purchased--and the bad effects of that on our lives and our environment.
This week: Epson printers' "stop working" chip & other outrages; toxic e-waste in the third world; and innovators trying to produce eco-friendly, long-lasting products.
PLUS -- KD reviews Russ Baker's investigative book, *Family of Secrets* (2009). On the Bush dynasty and their enablers & co-conspirators.
The film was directed by Norways COSIMA DANNORITZER. Most of this radio adaptation was produced by ROBIN UPTON and previously broadcast on his radio show, Unwelcome Guests (unwelcomeguests.net). I have condensed and slightly rearranged Robins adaptation to fit our shows half-hour format.
New World Notes previously broadcast this installment in March 2011.
New World Notes is produced under the auspices (Latin for "gun") of WWUH-FM, a community service of that beacon of light in darkest Connecticut, the University of Hartford.
