Professor Peter Dale Scott is a poet, author, former English Professor at Berkeley and a former Canadian Diplomat. He has written a number of books and articles on what he calls Structural Deep Events. These include incidents like 9/11 and the Kennedy Assassination that open the door to the adoption of increased executive and secret powers. In this interview, Professor Scott takes listeners through the history and purpose of these deep events, the contraction of democratic impulses that results, his view that the recent Ottawa Shooting may constitute such a deep event and the role of military and security harmonization between Canada and the United States and how that connects with what he calls the Continuity of Government.
