Binalakshmi Nepram is peace activist in Manupir, a state in the North East of India bordering Burma. Although Manipur is considered by the government to be part of India, the population wishes to remain independent. The area has been cooupied by the Indian army since the 1940s adn recently minerals have been discovered, which the govenrment of India wiches to exploit. Thousands have been killed. Binalakshmi is leading the women to rid the area of weapons and militarization and return to peace.
