In this episode we take a look at the Jewish Lobby and its manifestations at the local and national level. (By âJewish Lobby,â we mean the racist voice of todayâs Israel, which is not the same as that of all Jews.)
For our main feature, we present ex-AIPAC journalist MJ Rosenberg, speaking recently at a conference sponsored by Massachusetts Peace Actionâs Palestine Working Group. Rosenberg provides a detailed inside look and is well qualified to do so.
Before that feature, we report on the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authorityâs recent decision to refuse paid advertisements on âpolitical or social issuesâ following an outcry over a pro-Palestinian ad at a Red Line T stop. It is clear that the power of the Jewish lobby was on full display here, and although the ad was based on a verifiable fact, screams of anti-Semitism and hate speech filled the air.
We also report on continuing JCRC-sponsored all-expenses-paid trips to Israel for community, religious, and political âleadersâ for years and years, including local, state and federal legislative representatives. This time there was some public pushback against the acceptance of such trips by 10 Massachusetts State Senators. We present a Mondoweiss article on that pushback by Nancy Murray of Boston Alliance for Water Justice.
After the main feature, we also discuss the raging controversy in the United states and throughout the world concerning the immigration of Syrian refugees. True to form, Israel turns away Syrians, just as it turns away Palestinians coming in to be with their families.
This Week In Palestine (a weekly part of Truth and Justice Radio) is an award-winning three-quarter-hour segment of news from Palestine and discussion of issues relevant to the Palestinians' struggle for freedom from Israel's brutal military occupation and colonization of their homeland. It speaks from the point of view of Palestinians and those who care about them. It's a regular part of Truth and Justice Radio, aired Sundays 6-10am ET on WZBC 90.3FM, Newton, MA, streaming and archived for two weeks at wzbc.org; TJR's website, truthandjusticeradio.org, has a link to This Week In Palestine archives back thru 1-6-2008; earlier editions are obtainable from radio4all.net or by navigating through our playlists. (At this important time, TJR has been airing a lot of Palestine coverage IN ADDITION to that provided by This Week In Palestine.) We hope you'll write to us at tjr@bluebottle.com if you rebroadcast our work, or have questions or comments.
