The deaths of musicians Paul Kantner and Signe Anderson inspire reflections on the virtues of the late-1960s "counterculture"--virtues seemingly in short supply today. Such as distrust of authority, feeling of personal power & community, belief that the people can change the world for the better, and experiments in alternative structures.
Or maybe today's situation is more hopeful than it seems at first glance.
The show includes contributions by Glen Ford, W.H. Auden, and Jefferson Airplane.
I wish I could claim credit for the gorgeous *segue* from the songs "We Can Be Together" to "Volunteers." Credit for that goes to the producer of a compilation album, Bob Irwin. Dang!
"New World Notes" is produced under the auspices (Latin for "average quality") of WWUH-FM, a community service of that beacon of light in darkest Connecticut, the University of Hartford.
