Rasmea Odeh speaks about the struggle of working woman, "demanding equality and other social rights such as shorter work hours, better pay, voting rights, and an end to child labor."

The awards are named for Chicago’s iconic Palestinian community leader, Rasmea Odeh, who recently won an important victory in court.

Rasmea has been targeted by a Federal prosecutor who supports Israeli aggression and expansion in Occupied Palestine. The prosecutor has used his office to disrupt the increasingly successful BDS movement, called to bring Israel into compliance with International Law and Human Rights, to heel to use Hillary Clinton's language, through the nonviolent and Constitutionally protected use of the boycott; a First Amendment Right that supporters of Israeli expansion and ethnic cleansing are trying to suppress through
State Legislatures.

Rasmea gave the key note speech at the event following a short silence in recognition of the murder by Honduran government agents of Berta Caceres, the Environmental and Human Rights activists murdered just days prior to the event.
Sponsored by Committee to Stop FBI Repression, Freedom Road Socialist Organization, the U.S. Palestinian Community Network, the American Party of Labor, Anakbayan, the Chicago Alliance Against Racist & Political Repression, the Anti-War Committee, and Workers World Party.
Four women were honored with the first Rasmea Odeh Awards, in an event organized by Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO), and endorsed by the Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression, AnakBayan, Anti-War Committee, and the U.S. Palestinian Community Network
