With Trump and Sanders, or new parties in Europe, this 2008 speech by California activist Tom Hayden is important. Hayden was a founder of Students for a Democratic Society in the 60's, was one of the Chicago Seven, and with his wife Jane Fonda was an early environmental activist. I recorded this speech at the University of British Columbia in 2008, following student protests there.

There are undercurrents of new movements in many countries. When and how does social change arise? On July 3rd, 2008 I recorded this speech by legendary American activist Tom Hayden. The speech was broadcast in Vancouver, but this is it's first appearance on Radio Ecoshock. I call it "Birth of a Movement".
