We begin today by reading an article in Mondoweiss by Nada Elia, a Palestinian scholar, writer, and grass roots organizer. The resistance of Native Americans at Standing Rock resonates with her, as it does with many others. Standing up to the colonizers unites the oppressed!
Moving on: On Saturday, October 29th, a forum was held in Cambridge to address and help organize against the pushback by pro-Israeli groups to counter the world wide Palestinian Boycott, divestment and sanctions campaign (BDS). For example, initiatives to punish businesses participating in BDS have been introduced into numerous state legislatures, some becoming law despite their blatant unconstitutionality. Two of the forum's keynote speakers, Nadia Ben Youssef of the Palestinian legal organization, Adalah, and Tamar Ghabin of the US Campaign for Palestinian Rights, addressed the gathering, and we feature their presentations today.
The forum was organized by the Alliance for Water Justice In Palestine, Mass Peace Action, and Jewish voice for Peace.
