Washington, which is in political turmoil, still presses to impose an armed presence in Syria. But Syria with the help of Russia, Iran and Hezbollah, is winning strategic battles.

Though new President Trump and Erdogan of Turkey insist they will move to take territory from the sovereign state of Syria, the chances they will succeed are being reduced. Syria has proven stronger than all the Western pundits believed.
