On The Commons is a weekly radio show dedicated to discussing the many issues surrounding mandatory homeowner associations, the fastest growing form of residential housing in the nation.

Over the past several decades American homeowners have lost a significant portion of their property rights to their homeowners' associations. With every new set of governing documents recorded amid the land records and every legislative session in almost every state, individuals have lost more ground and associations have become more powerful. We are asked to believe that this is what Americans want. But do American homeowners really want to live in fear, terrorized by the bullies next door, with no dominion over their own homes? If not, what are they doing about it?

On The Commons with me this week is Jan Bergemann. Jan is the hard working president of Cyber Citizens for Justice, www.ccfj.net, a Florida based consumer protection grass roots organization. Jan and his fellow CCFJ members, with the help of the many other organizations they have partnered with, spent several grueling months working on trying to restore some sanity in residential Florida. Please join us On The Commons this Saturday, May 15, 2004. We'll talk about the traveling involved to attend hearings scheduled around the state and now that the session is over we'll tally up the gains and losses and find out what the future holds.
