Rene van der Vlist is a guide at the Arnhem Bridge museum and he takes us through some of the basics of this WWII battle which turned out to be a disaster for the British paratroopers and a decisive victory for the Nazis. Strangely though, commemorations get bigger every year. https://www.airbornemuseum.nl/en/airborne-at-the-bridge
Rob van der Zon shares his thoughts with us about the WWII battle of Arnhem which he describes as Market Garden, Destined To Fail. He was drawn to take a good look at the figure on top of the Hartenstein war museum memorial obelisk, almost out of public sight, which he believes is the Babylonian goddess Semiramis. He also has plenty of insight into the battle itself having been brought up in Oosterbeek, the WWII witches cauldron where the lightly armed British paratroopers of 1st Airborne Division were cut off and mauled by German tanks for nine long days. http://delangemars.nl/36-stedenreferendumtour/ https://www.nationalgeographic.com/archaeology-and-history/magazine/2017/09-10/searching-for-semiramis-assyrian-legend/
