We speak with former political prisoner Laura Whitehorn about radical politics, anti-imperialism, and the pros and cons of armed resistance vs. nonviolent protest.
Producer: Andrew Zimmerman Uploaded by: Andrew Zimmerman
Detailed Summary: Laura Whitehorn was released from federal prison on August 6, 1999, after serving fourteen years for a series of anti-government actions in the 1980's. But even before her arrest in 1985, Whitehorn was involved for many years in civil rights and anti-imperialist activities with groups such as the Black Panther Party. Bruderhof Radio's Ben Wright speaks with Laura about her early involvement in the civil rights and anti-racist movements, the future of anti-imperialist struggle, and the comparative effectiveness of armed struggle and non-violent resistance as means to achieve social and political change.
