VERY HIGH BANDWIDTH streaming-only archive of most recent week's show http://www.kuow.org/swing_years.asp ... PLAYLIST may 13th 2006 http://www.kuow.org/swing_years_archives.asp ... maybe ... in a week or two ... ###
kuow fm seattle - for broadcasting this program every saturday night for some decades ... Debits: for not making archived audio of this available--until, on a whim, an enthusiastic listener decided privately to record and upload audio edit to www.radio4all.net ... This program, though different in character to many on www.radio4all.net, answers the main criteria for this site : that the program be of broadcast quality, not available elsewhere in archived form, and with a listenership big enough to demonstrate an acceptably high number of downloads ... Archivist strongly recommends that any broadcaster who considers airing any of the programs in this series acquire specific permission in advance in writing from http://kuow.org in Seattle (KUOW 94.9fm in Seattle is an NPR station) ... If you download or stream this program more than a couple of times, Archivist asks that you think about throwing a couple of bucks a month in the direction of radio4all.net. (Yes I know PayPay can be a nuisance. If PayPal is too much of a hassle, than maybe drop some change on KUOW next time they have a pledge drive--making sure that your donation is CREDITED to SWING YEARS AND BEYOND ... FYI : like so many public stations, including Pacifica, there is a trend toward more news, documentary and commentary programming at the expense of rare music. Archivist acknowledges being something of a news junkie himself; but if youve gotten this far down in these program notes, I think youll agree that SWING YEARS AND BEYOND is a KEEPER, regardless ###
KUOW is now streaming the most recent SWING YEARS AND BEYOND from its own website--quite likely because KUOW was shamed into doing it by this informal archiving project on radio4all.net ... That weekly streaming archive at http://kuow.org/swingyears.asx however is only accessible to those with at least 512k modem ... so I guess occasional archiving on radio4all.net will continue until kuow makes a stream available to more modestly powered modems ~Glen Owen~ theKnownUniverse@yahoo.com ###
