A documentary about the proposed "natural" free trade corridor linking Atlantic Canada to the New England States of Maine. Vermont, New Hampshire, and Upstate New York.
Produced for CKDU Radio in Halifax by Stuart Neatby
Between June 8th and 10th, hundreds of citizens representing grassroots and labour organizations held three days of protests and workshops in Saint John, NB against a new proposed free-trade corridor, euphemistically titled "Atlantica"; Meanwhile, within a conference entittled "Reaching Atlantica: Business Without Borders" held at the Saint John Trade and Convention Centre, some of Atlantic Canada's wealthiest residents were mapping out what they believe will be an economic model for the region's future.

Encompassing the four Canadian Atlantic Provinces, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland, as well as the New England States of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Upstate New York, Atlantica is described by its proponents as an attempt to create an infrastructural corridor between these regions. However, critics of this initiative believe that Atlantica may involve a much more dangerous agenda, one which proposes to integrate Canadian social, economic, military, security, and immigration policy with those of the United States.
