Audrey Huntley spoke with Nahla Abdo on the implications of war in the Middle East on Palestinians, in particular women, and parallels to the struggles of aboriginal women against colonizer violence and internal violence.
Professor Abdo is interested in the areas of gender, race, ethnicity and nationalism. She has published extensively in the area of women, the state and nation, especially within the Middle Eastern context. She sits on the advisory boards of various international academic institutes including, the Bruno Kreisky Forum on Peace and Change in the Euro-Mediterranean (Vienna) and Women Studies International Forum (London). She helped establish the Women Studies Institute at Birzeit University and develop a Gender Research Unit in Gaza.
