This Week in Radio News: Art's Birthday for Jan. 23-30, 2016
Jan. 21, 2016, 11:43 p.m.
First, the headlines: NOAA tests new voice of weather radio; Live365 streaming service closes; European courts may be striking down mass surveillance; Democratic candidates talk encryption; NPR and NAB argue for FM chip in phones because national security. Then, a little backwards "Let's Dance" from David Bowie, and then the Charles Foster Kane political speech from the movie "Citizen Kane" is remixed, with "Donald J. Trump" dubbed in for Kane. And then, to celebrate the annual Jan. 17 birthday of "art," we hear The Beatles' and others birthday songs backwards. Plus a new song from Bob Mould, "Voices in My Head."
He's Not The Only One
Jan. 21, 2016, 11:37 p.m.
He's Not The Only One... is a recorded show made for contemplating on what and where Heaven and Hell really is... and about what it would be like to live only for today... and if there were no countries or religions... also about living life in peace... and if there were no possessions... and if we were to share all the world.... This song is also an inspiration for promoting the ways to actually achieve all of this through inviting all people to join me in creating a social media game that would demonstrate exactly how.... Those who may be interested, please send me a message.

Jeff Clements on Citizens United and our next step to overturn it
Jan. 21, 2016, 5:44 p.m.
Citizens United. Thatâs the name of a notorious Supreme Court decision 6 years ago, in which most election financing constraints -- state, federal, and local --were overturned in the name of âfree speechâ --- that is, for those who can afford it.
As a result, all U.S. elections are subject to poisoning by unlimited money from large corporations and rich people. Most of us know this is wrong, but what can we do about it?
Thatâs the purpose of a talk given January 13, 2016 by distinguished attorney/author Jeff Clements in Concord, sponsored by the League of Women Voters there. Truth and Justice Radio is proud to present our recording of that talk. It begins with two minutes of introductions.
Listeners may be surprised to learn that Citizens United is actually 8th in a historical series of really bad U.S. Supreme Court decisions, each of which triggered response by the people to enact constitutional amendments in order to reverse those decisions.
Jeff Clements is author of two books: Corporations Are Not People: Reclaiming Democracy from Big Money and Global Corporations (2014) and Corporations Are Not People: Why They Have More Rights Than You Do and What You Can Do About It (2012). He co-founded Free Speech For People in 2009, after representing several public interest organizations with a Supreme Court amicus brief in the Citizens United case. Now in private practice, he has served as Assistant Attorney General and Chief of the Public Protection Bureau in the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office.

Syrian army liberating strategic territory
Jan. 21, 2016, 12:19 p.m.
The Syrian army is beginning to score significant victories with Russian air support. They are now at the doors of the second biggest headquarters of the terrorists.
Sahiounie sets the record straight regarding the starving people in Madaya: The terrorists stole all of the food and the medicine that was delivered by the Red Crescent. Western media is trying to convert this tragedy into a sectarian issue between the Sunni and the Shiite.
Phil Taylor questions the role of the US instigated embargo against Syria, and he asks about Sahiounie's opinion of the upcoming Geneva based talks on Syria? Sahiounie refers to recent talks between the US and Russia, Russia and Qatar and US and Iran as a positive sign. In addition, he notes Syria is the center of the middle east and its safety determines the safety of the whole Middle East.
Sahiounie ends with a description of recent ISIS attack that killed at least 300 Syrian citizens, including children, and kidnapped 400 more. Bodies were thrown into the river. He asks Phil to ask the Canadian people to report on this atrocity and recognize that the Syrians are a people of peace.
Taylor comments: We need to ask why we treat ISIS terrorism as an opportunity to bomb Syria--without coordinating with Syria, without even acknowledging that the Syrian government exists. He ends with: "At the core of that is the policy that says that Assad must go and that ISIS can be played with; and, we see the bloody results."
Regime Change Express Stalled in Syria and Burundi: Why?
Jan. 21, 2016, 12:15 p.m.
à Colmáin carefully constructs the US changing from "strong-arm" military dictator tactics to using "civil society" (including human rights) groups, esp. with youth groups. This was their answer to getting rid of a dictator but retaining the economic dictatorship.
à Colmáin states that: "It was an ingenious foreign policy strategy and replicated almost around the world. Today they are basically doing that everywhere." That mess is being duplicated in Burundi today, and it is all part of a full destabilization of Africa. He adds that the British created the "Syrian Observatory of Human Rights" whose reports are scripted by the MI6.
Inserting snipers in crowds of peaceful protestors, as was done in Darayya, Syria, March 17, 2011, is the tested modus operandi of the CIA. The killings are blamed onto the targeted government and then the Western media takes it from there.
Many African leaders are becoming friendly to China because the Chinese (who are trying to protect their interests) are constructive - building things and providing technical knowledge, while the US/Allies are destructive - bombing and creating terrorist gangs, destabilization, invasion, demonization, and sanctions.
