#712 - Facing The Failing Culture Of Control - 5

Aug. 13, 2015, 12:51 p.m.
Our series on the failure of control returns to Unwelcome Guests core topics - trying to make sense of deep events and the shady dealings of deep political insiders. Although we cover a wide range of malfeasance, all the material we cover relates more or less directly to various actions by the Deep State. We hear Sander Hicks on a range of Sep 11th related topics (many of them new to the show), followed by Russ Baker on the Boston Marathon Bombing. We conclude with a recent overview of the deep state from Peter Dale Scott and a short segment from commercially-controlled media noting that even 6 years after the event, no explanation has been forthcoming of the E4B that flew over the White House on the morning of 9/11.

"Mumia's Lawyers Ask Court To Order Lifesaving Hep C Cure" (Ann Garrison)

Aug. 12, 2015, 9:28 p.m.
Bret Grote, Abolitonist Law Center, attributes the on-going and life-threatening illnesses of political prisoner Mumia Abu Jamal (such as skin rash over 80 percent of skin with severe inflammation, psoriasis, diabetes) to recently disclosed diagnosis of active hepatitis C. Grote discusses a new drug that has cured hepatitis without adverse symptoms. Problem is: The monopoly pricing by pharmaceutical industry is about $1000 a pill, 8-12 week, which ends up costing between $80,000 and $100,000. With an estimated 10,000 prisoners in the Pennsylvania prison system suffering from hepatitis C (20% of the prison population), the cost would be closing in on a BILLION $$ (which is at least half of the PA Department of Corrections budget). Grote notes that Mumia has been denied an examination by his own doctor and adds that the State Department of Corrections considers prisoners as their property, and they (the State) are the gatekeepers who determine who gets access to prisoners and under what conditions. They routinely deny care of outside professional medical doctors, as well as denying proper care by their own medical staff. Cost is not supposed to be a constitutionally permissible reason for denying care, though that is not the reality.

After the Iran-U.S. Sanctions Agreement

Aug. 12, 2015, 9:22 p.m.
Sara Flounders [at 3:00] promotes very important event/discussion about the the Iran-US sanctions agreement and what lies ahead. Is it diplomacy or military escalation? The IAC set up multiple media ---U-stream, Conference Call, Youtube, in person- for August 11 event in NYC. The purpose is to have experts give information and explanations to alert the movement/masses about the reality of reactionary forces undermining the removal of sanctions against Iran and escalating war in the entire region. What else are the reactionary forces planning? Flounders asserts we know that the US is openly supporting the "moderate" groups and backing air strikes; the US has newly negotiated bases in Turkey; and, the US has declared a "safe zone" inside Syria with its ominous no fly and free fire zones. Flounders sheds light on the possibility of the removal of sanctions agreement with Iran as a political device to make Iran stop supporting Syria, which would lead to regime change and collapse of Syrian government. Flounders declares: They want a completely compartmentalized destabilized population that has no ability to assert its sovereignty, just as happened after US wars against Iraq and Libya.

Former AIPAC Operative Speaks Out, So Does Former Congressman

Aug. 12, 2015, 5:21 p.m.
In this episode we continue our coverage of the Conference on the Israeli Lobby that was held at the National Press Club in Washington DC in April, 2015. We will hear from former AIPAC operative and Congressional staffer MJ Rosenberg who came to see the light and is now a sharp critic of AIPAC, and former 38 year Congressman from West Virginia, Nick Rahall. Exposing the tactics of the Israeli Lobby is critical to challenging the mythology and disinformation campaigns that drive the Israeli narrative, and that is exactly what we must be doing to change the attitudes of Americans, particularly in Congress, concerning the Palestine/Israel issue. First up is MJ Rosenberg, followed by former Congressman Nick Rahall.

Inside Obama's Clean Power Plan

Aug. 11, 2015, 6:43 p.m.
President Obama announced a bold new climate plan last week. The plan is being widely heralded by environmental advocates, but, perhaps unsurprisingly, pilloried by coal states and fossil fuel companies who are actively mounting legal challenges. This week on Sea Change Radio we talk with two environmental reporters, Alex Guillén from Politico and Tim McDonnell of Mother Jones. They provide an overview of the climate plan and its goals, discuss some political and legal responses, and talk about how it may be viewed globally as we anticipate the UN Climate Summit in Paris.

Our Common Future Under Climate Change, Part THREE - Professor Kevin Anderson

Aug. 11, 2015, 6:24 p.m.
Professor Anderson says that we need to immediately begin a drastic scale down of carbon emissions to prevent a collapse of the climate system. The Copenhagen Accord of 2010 stated that the increase in global temperature needs to be held below 2 degrees Celsius in order to avoid dangerous climate change. Anderson says that by postponing carbon reduction we are already on our way to a 4 degree Celsius warming. In advanced economies, a reduction of emissions of between 80-95% from the 1990 baseline is needed, according to a Tyndall Centre working paper. And as much as half of the world’s proven reserves of all fossil fuels will need to be left in the ground if we are to avoid the worst effects of climate change. Among the 2000 delegates who came to Paris in July 2015 to discuss the physical, economic and social aspects of climate change was Kevin Anderson. He is professor of energy and climate change at the University of Manchester, UK. This meeting was held in preparation for the COP meeting, also in Paris in December 2015, at which, finally, a global binding agreement on emissions needs to be signed and implemented. Kevin Anderson's talk in Paris received a lot of attention. However the organizers did not include it among the posts on their web-site. Anderson's voice is crucial for his expertise and his courage to express unpopular opinions. This is an in depth interview by Mike Coe, UK, produced in January 2015.

Through the torments of the mysterious kidnapper Jack, George, his screams echoing through the blighted swamps, encounters his own Beast face to face in a forced-sodomy fest of epic proportions. The anal agonies trigger another flashback that reveals the twisted workings of the Bush Dynasty, punctuated by an Orwellian examination of the application of war as social control.

Black Lives Matter in Toronto

Aug. 11, 2015, 1:15 p.m.
Sandra Hudson, a determined justice activist and co-founder of Black Lives Matter Toronto, decries the lack of any type of punishment for the police officers who shoot down innocent Blacks. They often find that these police officers have previously committed similar crimes with no punishment. Hudson discusses the two main cases in Toronto: (1) Jermaine Carby, shot and killed by Peel police during a traffic stop two months earlier (2) Andrew Loku, gunned down by police officers in front of an apartment building last September. BLM wants public accountability and to make sure that the public is protected against discrimination and murder.

Ishmael Reed, The Complete Muhammad Ali

Aug. 11, 2015, 1:11 p.m.
Ishmael Reed extends the boxing ring into a national and international political, historical and cultural ring where he connects issues, such as the civil rights movement, the Nation of Islam, the perception of Blacks (especially Muhammad Ali) at home and abroad, wars based on racism and a myriad of other universal issues. Phil Taylor compares Ishmael Reed's book, The Complete Muhammad Ali, to a grand jury where Reed, the judge, is taking a lot of evidence from people who know what they are talking about but do not always agree. Reed discusses the reality and the tactics of "black tokenism." Reed, who is popular in foreign countries, is minimized by the American press, where he says he is treated like a journeyman fighter on the way down.

But they'll need to be drunk, DAMNED drunk--because by show's end, Jack the Sadistic Kidnapper shows up...and the FUN BEGINS. The musical textures of Numan, Seether, the Dead Milkmen, and the Deviants take us crashing and looting through the mix, and the Ramones guide us through George's warm reminiscence of his first childhood KKK rally.
